Explorers Club Impact Grant

Earlier this year, a dream came true. I received word from The Explorers Club that my project, in collaboration with Rewilding Argentina and the National Parks Administration of Argentina, was selected to receive a 2024 Impact Grant. The news felt surreal, and even now, as I prepare to embark on the expedition, I’m still trying to process it.

Visiting The Explorers Club headquarters in NYC with my family.

The Explorers Club, founded in 1904, is a society dedicated to the advancement of field research and scientific exploration. This organization has supported some of history’s most iconic explorers, including Sir Edmund Hillary, the first person to summit Mount Everest, and Dr. Jane Goodall, whose groundbreaking work with chimpanzees has revolutionized our understanding of primates. To be part of this legacy is both an honor and a responsibility that I deeply appreciate.

My project aims to explore and highlight Rewilding Argentina’s Jaguar Reintroduction Program, based on San Alonso Island within the Iberá National Park of Argentina. Using high-resolution camera traps, we hope to capture intimate moments of wild jaguars, providing a window into the lives of this ecologically important and culturally iconic species. By sharing their stories, we aim to raise awareness about the importance of rewilding and the vital role jaguars play in their ecosystem.

To everyone who has encouraged me or supported my work along the way, thank you. Now, it's time to turn this vision into reality and get to work. The field awaits, and with it, the stories that will shape our understanding and appreciation of the natural world.
